Investigation: Are waste-coal power plants making us sick?

Brad Miller (D-N.C.) chaired a hearing last week on failures of the federal Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry, a branch of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, to protect public health from environmental contaminants. The hearing revealed numerous problems at ATSDR -- including the fact that it tried to bury research on the possible hazards of burning waste coal.
